Israel - Items - Judaism from a Vending Machine

February 23, 2009

Hi Everyone!

Last Thursday I was in the Jerusalem central bus station and I noticed an unusual vending machine on the second floor between the middle staircase and the escalator.

The vending machine did not have candy bars or potato chips or soda. The vending machine was offering booklets to learn Jewish laws and traditions. This was the first time I saw this type of vending machine. I happened to have my camera with me so I snapped some pictures and posted them below.

I was curious to get more details about the booklets and the organization so I called the 700 number that was listed on the machine. I spoke to a woman that told me that their organization (HaDaf HaYomi) distributes educational material through various channels and the vending machine has been at the central bus station for over a year. She also gave me the address of their website:
HaDafHaYomi.co.il

I am not a member of HaDaf HaYomi and I have not read any of their booklets but I found the vending machine to be unique and worth sharing with you on this page.
