The following is a copy of a letter I sent on April 30, 2002 to President Bush (cc VP Cheney), regarding the President's statement this past weekend of the establishment of a "strong personal bond" with the Saudis. It is important that we not stand in silence during these tragic historical times. I implore you to write to the White House, as well as to other members of the Congress & Senate. G'd bless the United States of America and the State of Israel. Esther Wolf "Don't Betray Israel, Don't Support the Saudis" Dear Mr. President: I am confused and dismayed! I'm shocked and dumbfounded! Are you the same President that uttered the words, after the terrible horrific tragedies of 9/11, "...we will root out terrorism... you are either with us or not..."? Well, Mr. President, with all due respect, who are you? What do you stand for? You are starting to remind me, and many others, of your father with his famous words: "read my lips" and then he turned around and did the opposite of what "those lips" said. Where is your moral integrity? Is it so easy to sell out the State of Israel for the, so called, "strong personal bond" that you established with the Saudis? Where in the history of modern democracy do third parties dictate to another democracy how they are going to handle the extradition of the murderers of a member of Parliament, Senate or Congress? I could never, ever, imagine the United States bowing to pressure from another democracy when it came to requesting the extradition of a murderer of one of our Senators or Congressman! Or bowing to a "mock trial" of these murderers and allowing a third party democracy to be the wardens of these "prisoners" over the next 18 years! I am ashamed to be an American! I am ashamed that you are our President with the "advisors" that you have in the White House! Enough bullying of Israel from America! Israel is a sovereign democratic country with the full rights to pursue peace and liberty, to pursue the murderers of one of their Knesset Ministers. How could you consent to the outrageous Saudi proposal of allowing these murderers to remain in the Palestinian Authority and not to be tried in Israel under Israeli democratic law? G'd help us! I hope and pray that America should never, ever, be in a position as Israel is...with a knife to her throat, with a bullying country telling her how to conduct it's internal affairs in regard to seeking justice for the murder of one of our politically appointed officials. This has been a sad day in our history - your pressuring Israel to consent to this British/American arrangement of guarding these murderers and to accept the ridiculous "mock trial" held by the PA. You have gone to bed with the "enemy" - the Saudis. That gov't is not "with us"...they don't root out terror, they support it, they collect millions of dollars for homicide martyrs and their families and pay them for their wonderful" contribution to the murdering of Jews/Israelis (among them have been atleast 40 (forty) US citizens). You talk with a forked tongue...I don't believe anything you say anymore! The way you are conducting foreign affairs...I can see another 9/11 around the corner! Put your money where your mouth is! Take care of terror and terrorists, allow other countries to do the same, force other countries to do the same and DON'T force other countries to back down from rooting out terror. I am referring, specifically, to "our friend" in the Middle East, the only true democratic government, ISRAEL. Mr. President, you disgrace the memory of the thousands of Americans that perished on 9/11 with the forging of a strong personal bond with the Saudis. To honor their memory, you should "forge a strong & personal bond" with Israel and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her, support her financially and politically, while she defeats the Islamic terrorism that threatens free people everywhere. Must you be reminded that 15 of the 19 terrorists of the 9/11 attacks on US soil were Saudi nationals? Think again, where do your loyalties lie? Don't betray the American people, and don't betray Israel. You have made a grave mistake with this pressure on Israel regarding the murderers of Minister Rechav'am Ze'evi. As always, I pray for you...may G'd grant you wisdom and the courage to act upon it! G'd bless the United States of America. G'd bless the State of Israel and the Jewish People. With best wishes, Esther Wolf A very concerned US citizen
